Dr. Renaud Léguillette is the Calgary Chair in Equine Sports Medicine and is diplomate of both the ACVIM (Internal Medicine) and ACVSMR (Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Equine). Dr. Léguillette is practicing as a UCVM equine internal medicine and sports medicine specialist at Moore Equine in Balzac, Alberta.
Renaud graduated from the ENVA (Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort), Paris, in 1994, and earned his M.Sc. for a study on horses affected with asthma and completed a PhD on airway smooth muscle in human patients with asthma at the Meakins-Christie Laboratories at McGill University.
Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) since its early days in 2006 and has been Interim Department Head of the department of Veterinary Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences.
Has trained many graduate students, UCVM summer students and interns.
Has developed a research program on inflammatory lung diseases (ie horse asthma), like heaves, and IAD (Inflammatory Airway Disease), as well as in equine sports medicine with a focus on cardio-respiratory exercise physiology. His clinical research is often collecting data in the field on sports horses from the community in Alberta and resulted in high impact publications.
